Planet Green, Pork Invaders, and Pack Man
The Planet Green Game fits into the serious game genre. The game does entertain the player, but more importantly the game also gets across it's message of making a cleaner, and greener earth. To portray this message, the game uses informative FYI's and unlockable facts about ways to make a cleaner earth. Examples of cities already using these concepts are also shown in the game. This game fits into my idea of education because it educates the player about simple ways to save energy and stresses the importance of becoming a "Green Planet."
The Pork Invaders game fits into the persuasive game genre, but also dabbles with the serious game genre. The game informs the player of the views of presidential candidates John McCain and Barak Obama which gives it a serious attitude. But what sets the game in the persuasive genre is the fact that it is trying to persuade the audience to vote for McCain by comparing the views of each candidate. Since the game is trying to get the player to vote for McCain, it states how he is against superfluous government spending, while Obama supports "pork projects." To me, this game is political due to the fact that there is a presidential election taking place in the United States and the game attempts to sway the player into voting for John McCain.
The Pack man game fits into the serious game genre. While enjoying a modified version of the classic game Pacman, the player gets informed about ways to make the earth a cleaner and nicer place to live. The game informs the player about ways to reduce packaging waste by inserting facts about how to clean up the earth between levels. In the introduction to the game, a story is told about large companies such as McDonalds, KFC, and Taco Bell, that use up more packaging materials than needed which leads to cutting down more trees in the forests of the southern United States. The game fits into my idea of education because it informs the reader about big businesses that are wasting packaging and causing the forests of the southern United States to be eliminated.
