Economy Blogpost

My starting ecological footprint was a 4.4 with 39% services, 13% food, 21% shelter, 13% mobility, and 14% goods. Most of this came from the fact that my house uses a lot of electricity. After my day of trying to reduce my ecological footprint, I was suprised to find out that changing my diet to becoming practically a vegitarian did absolutely nothing to help my footprint. A day wasted... But, i did not drive my car, which gets about 13mpg and that took my footprint all the way down to 3.9. I remembered to turn off the lights when I left a room and shut off the water when I was brushing my teeth, but I dont know what that will do to my monthly electricity bill so I did not change that part. I was suprised by the fact that changing my diet did not change my footprint, so I decided to mess around and make a perfect ecological man. That dude still used up 2.2 earths.... wtc? Anyways, it is cost effective to reduce my ecological footprint to a degree. It would be more cost effective to get a car with better gas mileage and to use less electricity because both of those would cut down on my bills i have to pay. But it is not always convenient. If I had to get up hours earlier than I already do to sit at the bus stop to get to school everyday I would not be a happy camper. I believe most people live their lifestyles the way they do because of the convenience of being able to do their own thing on their own time.

Concern

A major concern for the next 4 years is the environment. This has become a concern mostly because of the usage of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels, when burned, release CO2 gas that allows energy to come into the atmosphere, but does not let out as much energy which warms the earth. The warming of the earth causes more intense weather conditions. Also when some fossil fuels are burned, NO3 and SO3 are released which can be damaging to the environment forming smog and resulting in acid rain. The environment is also effected by the throwing away of products that are not biodegradable. This can be solved by more recycling. If these problems are not solved, their can be deadly consequences.

This website states the negative effects of games that are violent. It gives examples of experiments that were conducted that showed an increase of aggression in people who were playing violent video games. People who played violent video games cheered and were excited for longer periods of time than people who played the non-violent games. The site also cites Anderson and Bushman's views of violent games. A & B believe video games increase aggressive thoughts, emotions, and actions while decreasing people's positive presocial actions. The article also gives examples of how people become addicted to video games and therefore neglect their duties in real life.

This article has more to do with sex in video games. The article states that it is bad for sex to be in video games because it introduces sex into children's lives who should be ignorant to sex and therefore would stay abstinent. The article also points out that if people are playing games that have sex in them, they will be more likely to engage in promiscuous behavior because sex will seem more accepted which will lead to consequences afterwards. The article states that game developers must take the necessacary actions to make sure games with sex in them stay out of the hands of children and stay with the adults that they were made for.
